Chemo Cycle 2 - Day 1

No shunt required. The scan looked better! So chemo cycle two starting this evening, kidney test tomorrow and hopefully home tomorrow evening.

Not sure where I have been, but it's obvious I haven't been talking to my friends... :(

Just started reading Niamh's blog; mixed emotions, but I'm so glad she's doing well - she comes from a strong gene pool!

If there's anything I can do for her/you then please let me know...

Niamh's Story

On 21st October 2010 Niamh was diagnosed with a Supratentorial Primitive Neuroectodermal Tumor (PNET), a type of brain cancer.

Niamh has had three surgical procedures to remove the tumor, four rounds of Chemotherapy (Headstart III) and another three surgical procedures to relieve a build up of cerebrospinal fluid in her head.

After the fourth round of chemotherapy Niamh's cancer has progressed. The next treatment option is craniospinal radiotherapy with a boost to the tumour location.

Six weeks after radiotherapy Niamh's tumour has progressed again. Though very difficult, we believe it is kindest to Niamh to end her treatment here.

Niamh and we are now in the excellent care of Acorns Children's Hospice where we will help make sure Niamh enjoys the best possible time with her sister Emilie.
